International Engagements

Built in South Africa. Deployed wherever you are.

We work with clients in the United Kingdom, the United States, the Middle East, Australia and across SADC. The engineering standard does not change with the postcode; the timezone, the currency and the data region do, and all three are yours to choose.

Direct answer: ASi Imperium is a South African engineering practice. We build software, infrastructure and security programmes for clients abroad, working in your business hours where they overlap ours, deploying into the cloud region your regulator expects, invoicing in your currency, and contracting through a registered South African company you can verify.

The Practical Question First

"What hours will we actually get?"

South Africa runs on SAST, UTC+2, with no daylight saving. That single fact is why offshore engineering from here is easier than from most alternatives: our working day already sits inside Europe's, and most of the Middle East's.

Your marketOffset from usOverlap on a normal working day
United Kingdom1–2 hours behindAlmost the entire day
UAE · Saudi Arabia0–2 hours aheadAlmost the entire day
Western Europe0–1 hour behindAlmost the entire day
US East Coast6–7 hours behindOur afternoon, your morning
US West Coast9–10 hours behindOur evening, your morning — scheduled
Australia (AEST)8–9 hours aheadOur early morning, your afternoon

We will tell you the awkward ones. A daily stand-up with Perth or Sydney means one side takes an early start, and a US West Coast engagement needs scheduled overlap rather than ambient availability. We say that during scoping rather than discovering it in month two. English is a first language of business here, which removes the other friction people expect from offshore work.

Where Your Data Sits

Your regulator's region, not ours.

Being built in South Africa does not mean being hosted in South Africa. The cloud region is a deployment decision, and it is made against your obligations, not our convenience.

United Kingdom & Europe

Deployed into UK or EU regions where UK GDPR or the GDPR governs the data. We work to those requirements as a processor and document the arrangement; we are not a law firm and will say when you need one.

United States

US regions, with state-level obligations and any sector rules identified at scoping rather than assumed. Where HIPAA or similar is in scope we will tell you plainly whether we are the right build partner for it.

Middle East

UAE and Saudi regions are available from the major providers, which matters where data-localisation rules apply. Residency is written into the architecture document, not left to a default.

Australia

Australian regions, with Privacy Act obligations and the Notifiable Data Breaches scheme identified up front, so the incident path is agreed before it is needed.

What we will not do is imply certifications we do not hold. The platforms we build on carry SOC 2 Type II and ISO/IEC 27001; ASi Imperium does not. We apply those controls and we document which is which — see the stack. Our POPIA practice is South African statutory work and stays here; for your jurisdiction we build to the requirement and you keep your own legal advice.

Money And Paperwork

Contracting across a border, without the theatre.

Quoted in your currency

GBP, USD, EUR, AED or ZAR. Fixed fee against a written scope, so the exchange rate is our problem between quote and invoice, not a variable you carry.

A company you can check

ASi Imperium (PTY) LTD is a registered South African company. Registration details, director information and a W-8BEN-E or local equivalent are provided on request during onboarding.

Your contract or ours

We will work under your MSA, NDA and security schedule. If you do not have one, ours is short, in plain English, and hands you the IP outright.

You own the result

Source code in your repository, infrastructure in your cloud accounts, domains in your name. This is the same on every engagement and it does not change with distance.

How It Runs

Remote by design, not remote as an excuse.

Distance hides problems. The way we work is built to stop it doing that: a written scope before anything is built, work visible in your repository from day one rather than at a reveal, a scheduled call in your hours each week, and the same engineer on the engagement throughout. You are not handed to an account manager, and you are not passed between people who have to be re-briefed.

Where an engagement touches a profession or jurisdiction we do not practise in, we say so and bring in someone who does, by name. How we build covers the process in full.

Straight Answers

Common questions.

Why work with a South African firm at all?

Honestly: strong engineering depth, English as a working language, a timezone that overlaps Europe and the Middle East almost entirely, and rates below UK, US and Australian equivalents for the same standard of work. The rate is real and we are not going to pretend otherwise, but it is the least interesting reason. If the work is not good, cheap is worthless.

Can you hold our data in our own country?

Yes. Region is chosen at architecture stage against your obligations, and written into the handover documentation.

How do we pay you?

International bank transfer in your currency, against a fixed-fee invoice tied to a written scope. Payment details are shared directly on a confirmed engagement, never published on a website.

What happens if we want to leave?

You take everything, because it was already yours. Code is in your repository, infrastructure in your accounts, domains in your name, and the handover pack documents the lot. There is no proprietary layer to unpick.

Do you have clients in our market already?

Our published client work is South African and named with permission — we do not invent references or borrow logos. Ask during scoping and we will be specific about what we have done that is comparable to your engagement, and equally specific about what we have not.

Tell us the market, the obligation you are working to and the outcome you need. If we are the wrong firm for it — wrong jurisdiction, wrong specialism, wrong timezone for the way you work — we will say so on the first call rather than the third.
